A building from 1896, originally functioning as a bakery with the apple orchard located next to it. Over the years it has served many other functions, such as a painting company, office space, sheltered housing and many people have been inside here. Therefore, in 2019 it was really due for a renovation and we were allowed to transform it into a sustainable home.
The only historical detail that has remained are the stained glass windows. Originally it had no hallway, people used to enter directly into the bakery shop. Now the hallway functions as a binding element between spaces left and right, above and below, and also front and back. At the rear, a spacious canopy with fireplace has been installed to enjoy the beautiful old garden. The facades and ceilings of this are made of Frake wood, a wood species that has been thermally treated. Finally, the solar panels, heat pump and ducted air conditioning provide optimal living comfort and a sustainable energy balance.
